- The first way I started to care for myself and the planet was to eat only organic food starting in 1994. The first organic food I ate was purchased at Marlene’s Market and Deli in Federal Way, Washington http://www.marlenesmarket-deli.com/ what I bought was an organic potato and an organic yam. The potatoes taste like the ones we grew on the farm when I was a child, it was earthy, creamy and tasty. While the yam was bright orange sweet as candy and a delight to my tongue. Now I realize that included in eating organic, what is important to me and my family is local food grown and raised by people who love what they grow, the animals they care for and the land that feeds us all.
- Then serendipity led me to the opportunity to be on the board of the Silver City Food Coop http://www.silvercityfoodcoop.com/our-co-op/ from 2000-2004. The roles held by me during my time on the board were treasurer and vice-president.

Silver City Food Coop where I was on the Board of Directors for four years. Congratulations on 40 years. <3 - Using Bio-diesel from the Cowichan Bio-Diesel Coop http://www.smellbetter.org/ in our TDI Golf the car we have now and the car we use to have a TDI Jetta Station Wagon fills my heart with glee. Bio-Diesel is made from used french fry oil that is filtered and mixed with methanol. I love supporting a local business, using a waste product to fuel our car and keeping a bunch of used french fry oil out of the landfills.

Me getting our first 20 litres of Bio-diesel for our TDI Golf made from used french fry oil and methanol. :~) - We buy our vegetables locally at Mobetta Farms http://mobettaherbs.ca/index.html and this year is the first time we joined a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) where we pay the farmer in advance and then we get to receive 24 weeks of vegetables in the summer and early fall. We ate so well out of the CSA. The Biodynamic Farm we buy our food from is named Alderlea Farm in Glenora, BC. http://www.alderleafarm.com/csa.html

This is the CSA where we bought our food in 2014 and are signed up for 2015 too.
