In order for me to be a good friend it is important for me to use all of my senses so I am able to pay attention to my friends body language, tone of voice and vibrational energy. As my friend tells me how her boss grabbed her ass with tears in her eyes, my heart breaks for her. I listen to her with the ears of an elephant so that I can hear the pain she is expressing to me. My friend needs me to listen to her so she is able to talk out her problems and find the solutions in her own words. I let her know I understand her pain and that she is worthy of being treated with respect.
I know from sharing my stories in the halls of AA meetings that just having a room full of people listen to me without judging me, shaming me or even trying to help me allowed me to discover the answers that were already in my heart. I trust my friends and loved ones to have their answers in their hearts just as I do. My heart feels open and relaxed now that I trust my friends are capable of solving their problems just as I am.
Supporting my friends while they work through their issues inspires my heart. Witnessing my friends solve their issues helps me know that when I have issues I will get through my issues as well.
One of the hardest things about being a good friend is when I see my friend getting ready to make a mess of her life and standing up to her for her. To gently let my friend know she is walking into a trap of her own making as if she is my little girl running into traffic. Then to be good if my friend takes my advice or not. If she takes my advice I am thrilled and if she does not take my advice I am also thrilled. However, if she made the second choice I will be there when she makes the mess I tried to warn her about and then help her clean up the mess. It is easy for me to help my friend clean up her messes. I have ignored her good advice more that once and then she modeled being a good friend by helping me clean up my mess.
My heart expands each time I am a good friend. I incarnated to be a friend to everyone I meet. Seeing everyone on planet earth as my friend makes my days sweeter. I am 99.9% the same as every other person on planet earth.
I am a friendly child of Universal Love and Universal Love feels safe when I am feeling friendly.
